The Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) is a new generation technology, brighter and clearer images with more agile responding speed. This OLED 1.27" inch model no. UG-2896GDEAF11 OLED display is made of 128 RGB x 96 dots individual. This OLED module is lightweight, low power and small, there are different interfaces optional; it is default SPI, Parallel and I2C interface.


The size of the active area is 1.27” diagonal with module dimension 33.70 × 26.90 × 1.60 (mm), active area dimension 25.708 × 19.28 (mm). This 1.27 inches OLED display has built-in IC SSD1351 and boasts high contrast ratio 20,000 : 1. Logic supply voltage ranges from 1.65V-3.5V, the typical value is 3V. It is great for the application such as medical device, POS system, white goods, home applications, industrial instrument, automation, audio/visual display systems, personal care appliances, household goods, automobile displays, Dynamic information displays etc.

Designing Precautions for OEL display module


1) The absolute maximum ratings are the ratings which cannot be exceeded for OEL display module, and if these values are exceeded, panel damage may be happen.
2) To prevent occurrence of malfunctioning by noise, pay attention to satisfy the VIL and VIH specifications and, at the same time, to make the signal line cable as short as possible.
3) We recommend you to install excess current preventive unit (fuses, etc.) to the power circuit (VDD). (Recommend value: 0.5A)
4) Pay sufficient attention to avoid occurrence of mutual noise interference with the neighboring devices.
5) As for EMI, take necessary measures on the equipment side basically.
6) When fastening the OEL display module, fasten the external plastic housing section.
7) If power supply to the OEL display module is forcibly shut down by such errors as taking out the main battery while the OEL display panel is in operation, we cannot guarantee the quality of this OEL display module.
8) The electric potential to be connected to the rear face of the IC chip should be as follows: SSD1333
* Connection (contact) to any other potential than the above may lead to rupture of the IC.

AMOLED driver technology

Different from PMOLED, AMOLED is arranged with 2 transistors and 1 capacitor (i.e. 2T1C) in each pixel unit, which is the most basic pixel drive circuit method of AMOLED, considering the performance compensation such as brightness uniformity, more transistors and capacitors can also be designed. Each pixel of the active drive is equipped with a thin-film transistor with a switching function, and each pixel is equipped with a charge storage capacitor, and the peripheral drive circuit and display array are integrated on the same glass substrate. The driver circuit of the active matrix is hidden in the display, making it easier to integrate and miniaturize. In addition, because the connection problem between the peripheral drive circuit and the screen is solved, the yield and reliability are improved to a certain extent. The outstanding feature of the active driver is that the constant current drive circuit is integrated on the display screen, and each light-emitting pixel corresponds to its thin-film transistor for matrix addressing, and the light-emitting driver includes the thin-film transistor, charge storage capacitor, etc.

The active drive is a static drive mode, with a storage effect, and can be driven by 100% load, which is not limited by the number of scanning electrodes, and can be selectively adjusted for each pixel independently, without the problem of duty cycle, and is easy to achieve high brightness and high resolution. The active driver can independently adjust the gray scale of the red and blue pixels with low brightness, which is more conducive to the realization of OLED colorization. OLED display devices have diode characteristics, so in principle, they are unidirectional DC drives. However, due to the thickness of the organic light-emitting film in the nanometer range, the light-emitting area size is generally greater than 100 microns, and the device has obvious capacitive characteristics. At present, many drive circuits adopt the driving mode of forward constant current and reverse constant voltage.

In the actual product, a variety of factors affecting AMOLED image quality are more complex, some are a certain factor plays a leading role, some may be the result of a variety of factors, for the factors that lead to the deterioration of AMOLED image quality, the industry has studied a variety of drive compensation technology and the corresponding compensation circuit, which can be roughly divided into voltage compensation method, current compensation method, digital drive compensation method, external compensation method, etc. Compared with the process technology and equipment technology to improve the AMOLED image quality deterioration, the means of circuit improvement are more efficient. Driver compensation technology is the key and difficult point of AMOLED driver, and it is also the special feature of AMOLED driver compared with TFT LCD driver.
